What is Aristotle's view of God?
Aristotle made God passively responsible for change in the world in the sense that all things seek divine perfection. God imbues all things with order and purpose, both of which can be discovered and point to his (or its) divine existence.
Aristotle is a severe critic of traditional religion, believing it to be false, yet he also holds that traditional religion and its institutions are necessary if any city, including the ideal city he describes in the Politics, is to exist and flourish.
...
Here are four big philosophical questions he answered:
- What makes people happy? ...
- What is art for? ...
- What are friends for? ...
- How can ideas cut through in a busy world?
In the writings of ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (specifically in his book Politics), it becomes evident that Aristotle did not support the concept of the divine right to rule.
The origin of the very word perspective comes from a Latin word, perspicere, which means to “look through or beyond”. Our human perspective can only “look at”, “look at all I've done wrong” “look at all I've messed up” but a God perspective actually looks through or beyond our human perspectives.
Yes they are. Hellenism, the worship of the ancient Greek Gods, is recognized by the Greek government as an official religion. They are worshipped in many other countries too. What did the ancient Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle teach in a nutshell?
In the 300s B.C., Aristotle argued that there are four earthly elements: earth, air, water, fire, (combinations of the “contrarities” hot, cold, wet, and dry), in addition to “aether” of the heavens. All elements strive toward their natural placement in the universe and can change from one form to another.
To get the basics of Aristotelian ethics, you have to understand three basic things: what Eudaimonia is, what Virtue is, and That We Become Better Persons Through Practice.
I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self.
His primary area of focus was “being qua being,” which examined what can be said about being based on what it is, not because of any particular qualities it may have. In “Metaphysics,” Aristotle also muses on causation, form, matter and even a logic-based argument for the existence of God.
What was Aristotle main philosophy?
Everyone must do philosophy, Aristotle claims, because even arguing against the practice of philosophy is itself a form of philosophizing. The best form of philosophy is the contemplation of the universe of nature; it is for this purpose that God made human beings and gave them a godlike intellect.
Unknowable – This is the belief that because God is completely different to us we can never really know Him. Monotheism – This is the belief in one God. For example, Christianity and Islam are monotheistic. Polytheism – This is the belief that there are many gods.

However, since the mid-1960s, there has been a resurgence of interest in these arguments. Much of the discussion has focused on Kant's “big three” arguments: ontological arguments, cosmological arguments, and teleological arguments.
Believers, however, who are made in God's image and likeness, possess a three-fold nature: body, soul, and spirit.
“To be honest, most of philosophy isn't concerned in any direct sense with God or God's existence,” Jensen said. “It is one part of philosophy that we study, but we're not obsessed with it. In no way is it the purpose of philosophy to attack religion.”
Aristotle regarded happiness as the ultimate good. In his Nichomachean Ethics, he explains that eudemonia is not just a pleasant life but a good one filled with virtue and, thus, happiness. Aristotle is famous for his theory of the “good life,” or eudaimonia.
For Aristotle, eudaimonia is the highest human good, the only human good that is desirable for its own sake (as an end in itself) rather than for the sake of something else (as a means toward some other end).
To summarise from Pursuit of Happiness (2018), according to Aristotle, the purpose and ultimate goal in life is to achieve eudaimonia ('happiness'). He believed that eudaimonia was not simply virtue, nor pleasure, but rather it was the exercise of virtue.
Aristotle was before Jesus, but He still left room for belief.
The four causes or four explanations are, in Aristotelian thought, four fundamental types of answer to the question "why?", in analysis of change or movement in nature: the material, the formal, the efficient, and the final.
What was Aristotle's central question?
Aristotle's ethics asks the fundamental question: (A) what is the right thing to do? (B) How can I lead a good life? T or F: For Aristotle exercising virtues will lead to happiness since the virtues are needed to conduct our lives well.
In On Interpretation, Aristotle argues that a single assertion must always either affirm or deny a single predicate of a single subject. Thus, he does not recognize sentential compounds, such as conjunctions and disjunctions, as single assertions.
He thought that justice means giving each person his due, or what he deserves. But how do we know what people deserve? What goods and opportunities should go to which persons? Aristotle's answer is that we have to consider the “telos”—the point, the end, or the purpose—of the good in question.
For Aristotle, if one wants to understand why a thing is what it is and how it is, then the most important of the four causes is the final cause. He claims this is true even for natural objects. His main reasoning is that a final cause is needed to help explain the regularity of certain natural phenomena.
Aristotle sought to explain the World as logical, as a result of causes and purposes, The "Four Causes" are his answers to the question Why: "We do not have knowledge of a thing until we have grasped its why, that is to say, its cause." "Cause" is the traditional translation of the Greek aitia (αἰτία), which has a ...
He believes, like Aristotle, that each natural substance has three principles, namely, form, subject and privation, although nature is especially associated with the form.
So, as per above explanation Aristotle concluded that an object like a ball stay in motion only if it gets some force, but the object or ball will come at the state of rest if it is not forced or pushed. So, the natural state of motion is the state of “rest”.
Conclusion. After the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE, when the tide of Athenian popular opinion turned against Macedon, Aristotle was charged with impiety owing to his earlier association with Alexander and the Macedonian Court.
In Book III of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle says that, unlike nonrational agents, we have the power to do or not to do, and much of what we do is voluntary, such that its origin is 'in us' and we are 'aware of the particular circumstances of the action'.
Aristotle emphasized that virtue is practical, and that the purpose of ethics is to become good, not merely to know. Aristotle also claims that the right course of action depends upon the details of a particular situation, rather than being generated merely by applying a law.
